Clanfield is the most northern village of the Waterlooville area and situated in the PO8 postcode sector. The location is excellent because it provides both good access onto the A3(M) to London and Portsmouth, whilst also bordering the South Downs National Park on three sides.
Clanfield was formerly a farming community dating from around 1300. It was centred around the Church of St James. The original church no longer exists, having been re-built in 1875.
Bus routes from Clanfield give access to both the north and south. There are direct routes to Waterlooville and Petersfield which run regularly throughout the day.
There are various shops, three parks, two pubs (Rising Sun and Hogs Lodge) and an abundance of public footpaths giving access onto the surrounding countryside. Located on a hill above the village is Clanfield observatory, which sits alongside one of Portsmouth’s resevoirs.
